VKC: Tell us a bit about yourself and your shop.
Whitney: Let's see! I live in Brooklyn, New York with my husband and our two year old daughter. We moved here recently, so we spend our time exploring the city with each other - usually in search of pastries and coffee or an open museum.
My shop has actually been open for a whole year now - which I can hardly believe. I started it as a hobby to keep myself entertained during nap time, but now it's a full-blown part time job for me and I am grateful for it every day.
VKC: Why are you drawn to vintage?
Whitney: My love for vintage started in college, when I amassed a spectacular collection of vintage boots. I found myself constantly searching for more pairs, and I became addicted to the thrill of the hunt! Ever since our daughter was born (and I ran out of room for more boots), I've loved finding old little dresses and outfits that are so unique because of their age.
VKC: Where do you find your treasures?
Whitney: Lots of different places! I have some elves in a few other states that help me out, too. :)
VKC: What is your process when creating/working?
Whitney: I like to do everything in huge chunks. For example, when I photograph items, I photograph a hundred things at a time. I try to add new listings a few times each week, which keeps me pretty busy. My daughter and I also enjoy our weekly walk to the post office, after which we always stop for tea and chips.
VKC: How do you promote your business?
Whitney: I've found Twitter to be my most successful venue for promoting my shop. I'm able to tweet my listings right as I post them, and sometimes things are sold within minutes! In the past, I've also worked with a few bloggers to have their children wear items from my shop - which has also been a great way to get exposure.
VKC: What is your favorite item in your shop or that you have sold and why?
Whitney: I can't really answer this question, because I HOARD all my favorite items! I've recently been trying to let go of a few things that I know my daughter won't wear, but if I come across something really amazing, I have a hard time listing it. (I realize this is pretty ridiculous!) I recently sold a precious handmade peach dress from the 40's, which I had been storing for far too long!
VKC: What giveaway or discount would you like to offer our readers?
Whitney: I would love to offer a $25 credit to my shop - with free shipping to anywhere in the world.
Whitney- you and your shop are an inspiration!
